Emmanuel Raju

Born and raised in Hyderabad, Emmanuel Raju is a social scientist working to untangle the drivers of disasters. Emmanuel is currently the Director of The Copenhagen Centre for Disaster Research (COPE) and an Associate Professor of Disaster Risk Management at the Global Health Section at the Københavns Universitet – University of Copenhagen. He is also an ‘Extraordinary Associate Professor’ at North-West University / Noordwes-Universiteit, South Africa. With over a decade of experience working in research and teaching in international development and disaster risk management, he is one of the foremost names to consult when it comes to disaster risk reduction; disaster recovery; and governance – not just in academia, but on the ground too!
